Fall Family Festival

Marble Falls Regional Mountain Man Knife and Hawk Throwing Championship

Throwing Championship - Saturday October 27th at the
West Grid Ranch on Highway 1431 (see map). Additional knife and hawk throwing demonstrations, instructions, and money matches each Saturday and Sunday during the "Fall Family Fest". Open to amateurs and club competitors.

Calendar of Events:

Saturday, October 6, 13, 20 - 10am-12pm instruction and practice; 2pm-4pm instruction
And practice; 4pm-6pm daily competitions.


Saturday, October 27 - 10am-12pm instruction and practice; 2pm-6pm"Amateur" and
"Club Competitor" Championship competition in "knife", "hawk", and "all around" categories.


Sunday, October 7, 14, 21, 28 - 2pm-4pm instruction and practice; 4pm-6pm daily
Competition.

Rules

  1. Absolutely no target throwing at the range without the Boulder Creek Ministries range officer present.
  2. During practice and demonstration times any type knife or tomahawk may be thrown.
  3. During all daily and championship competitions only the following may be thrown:

Knives: Traditional style with one sharp edge from tip to hilt. Length 10"-16". Handle must have bone, wood, leather or some traditional finish (no taped or corded handles).
Hawks: Maximum 4" cutting edge. No spikes or double bitted hawks. Wooden handle. May be covered with leather, but no tape, cord or other modern grip aids.


Boulder Creek Ministries will have house knives and hawks on hand for use
by participants and contestants, or you may bring your own.

 

  1. All competition knife throwing will be handle throws and one or two turns only;

no half turn throws. All competition hawk throwing will be one turn or one and half turns only.

  1. Daily competitions will vary; rules will be available at time of sign up.
  2. The Marble Falls Regional Mountain Man Knife and Hawk Throwing Championship will be divided into the following categories:

Amateur Knife Throwing Champion
Amateur Hawk Throwing Champion
Amateur Overall Mountain Man Knife and Hawk Throwing Champion
Club Competitor Knife Throwing Champion
Club Competitor Hawk Throwing Champion
Club Competitor Overall Mountain Man Knife and Hawk Throwing Champion

  1. Championship knife throwing for Amateur competitors will consist of ten throws at the one turn distance, and five throws at the one turn low target distance.
  2. Championship hawk throwing for Amateur competitors will consist of ten throws at the one turn distance and five throws at the one and a half throw low target distance.
  3. Championship knife throwing for Club Competitors will consist of ten throws at the one turn distance, five throws at the two turn distance, and five throws at the one turn low target distance.
  4. Championship hawk throwing for Club Competitors will consist of ten throws at the one turn distance and five throws at the one and a half turn low target distance.
  5. The Overall Champion will be determined by total points from both competitions.
  6. There will be no youth division at any of these competitions and anyone under the

age of 18 must have a parental signature on their waiver form to participate in competitions, instruction, or practice.

Cost of daily competitions and matches may vary but will typically be $10.00 or less. Entry fee for the Marble Falls Regional Mountain Man Knife and Hawk Throwing Championship will be $25.00.
