Equine Assisted Psychotherapy

Does your child or teen need help learning some basic life skills like problem solving, teamwork, responsibility, and social skills? If so, let the horses teach them! Just Horsin' Around groups are an incredibly fun and powerful way to help your children learn to interact more effectively with other teens or your family.

Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) is a powerful and effective therapeutic approach that has an incredible impact on individuals, youth, families, and groups. EAP is a collaborative effort between a licensed therapist and a horse professional. With EAP, participants learn about themselves and others by participating in activities with the horses, and then processing (or discussing) feelings, behaviors, and patterns. The focus of EAP is not on teaching riding or horsemanship, but rather on helping individuals learn the life skills necessary to confront life's many challenges. EAP is a particularly effective technique for treating a variety of mental health and human development needs, including communication skills, relationship difficulties, social skills deficits, substance abuse, behavioral difficulties, depression, anxiety, and ADHD.

Sessions are offered by Dr. Julie Griffin at the West Grid Ranch, just outside of Marble Falls. Group sessions for children and adolescents will be held in the fall and the spring, and are available on a sliding fee scale. Call 830-798-9820 to sign up!

Celebrate Recovery Groups
Celebrate Recovery groups offer a structured, Biblically based alternative to traditional 12 step groups. Unlike traditional 12 steps groups, these groups are not solely for individuals struggling with alcohol or drug addiction, but rather anyone who is beginning to recognize a need to grow and change. This curriculum is being used across the United States and has helped hundreds of thousands of individuals to find freedom in their lives from problems such as overeating, overspending, anger, depression, relational difficulties, and substance abuse. Groups meet on a weekly basis, include weekly homework, and are tailored to the needs of individual group members. Call today to reserve your spot! 830-798-9820 or Renee Latham at 512-355-3557.
